Faculty of Economics and Management

FASEG

The Faculty derived from l’Ecole des Techniques Economiques et de Gestion (Higher Institute of Economic and Management Techniques) (ESTEG) created by presidential decree N°72-181-PR of September 5, 1972, emanating from the Ecole de Droit et des Sciences Economiques (Higher Institute of Law and Economics) based on fonts by presidential decree N°70-157 of September 14, 1970. Its current name is Faculté des Sciences Economiques et de Gestion (FASEG) by presidential decree N°88-162/PR of September 29, 1988 shifting the Schools of Université de Lomé into faculties.

FASEG aims to train proficient people in Economics and Management, so as to meet the needs in workforce for the socioeconomic development of Togo.

The Faculty is divided into two departments:

-      Department of Economics;

-      Department of Management.

The administrative and organization of the Faculty of Economics and Management is as follow:

  • The faculty board ;
  • The office of the faculty assembly ;
  • The deanship;
  • The examination service;
  • Academic and scientific committee;
  • Finance and budget committee;
  • Disciplinary committee ;
  • Educational information unit ;
  • Internal insurance quality Unit. 

FASEG offers trainings in the fields of Economics and Management, following the Licence-Masters-Doctorat degrees.

Trainings for the Licence degree are as follows:

  • Licence in Economics, Major: Analysis and Politics of Economics
  • Licence in Economics, Major : Economics of Development
  • Licence in Economics, Major: International Economy
  • Licence in Management, Major: Accounting, Auditing
  • Licence in Management, Major: Organization and Human Resource Management
  • Licence in Management, Major: Marketing and Strategy.

At the Masters degree, we offer training in Masters of Research and Professional Masters in Economics and Management.

For the doctorate degree, we equally train doctors in Economics and Management.

All the training courses for the Licence degree lead to the specialization in Masters and Doctorate.   

  • Track : Analysis and Politics of Economy

 Targeted skills in Bachelors: Mastering basic principles of economic theories; well-versed in quantitative techniques as analytical economic tool; steer towards advanced studies in economic theories.

 Targeted skills in Masters and Doctorate:  

Mastering economic theory; designing and establishing policies and strategies; evaluating measure effect; participate in economic discussions and in the development of national and international policies;   

Opportunities: The acquired skills could enable the graduates to work in public and private sectors, NGOs, international organizations, firms, consulting firms. Graduates could equally become teachers, University lecturers or researchers.

  • Track : Economics of Development

Targeted skills in Bachelor:  analyzing economic problems; mastering basic principles of economic theory so as to apply them to problems solving; being knowledgeable in quantitative techniques as analytical economic tools; steering towards advanced studies in economics of development. 

 Targeted skills in Masters and Doctorate: Mastering the theory and analysis of development, designing and establishing policies and development strategies; evaluating measure effects on development; taking part in economic discussions and in the development of national and international policies.

Opportunities:  The acquired skills could enable the graduates to work in public and private sectors, NGOs, international organizations, firms, consulting firms. Graduates could equally become teachers, University lecturers or researchers.

  • Track : International Economics

Targeted skills in Bachelor degree: mastering basic principles of economic theory so as to apply them to problems solving; being knowledgeable in quantitative techniques as analytical economic tools; steering towards advanced studies in international economics.

Targeted skills in Masters and Doctorate:  mastering theories and tools for analyzing exchanges with the outside; Designing and implementing trade policies and strategies; Evaluating the impact of trade policy measures;  participating in economic discussions and in the development of national and international policies.

Opportunities:  acquired skills could enable graduates to work in public and private sectors, NGOs, international organizations, large companies, consulting firms. Graduates can become teachers, lecturers or researchers as well.

  • Track : Accounting and Auditing

Targeted skills in Bachelor degree course: Knowing and understanding basis of management; being able to use management tools in solving concrete problems; keeping accounts and involving in auditing services, diagnosis and in management control.

Targeted skills in Masters in Doctorate:

Mastering theories and accounting techniques, controlling and auditing, using tools of problems and systems assessment; elaborating policies of accounting and controlling processes.

Opportunities: acquired skills could enable graduates to work in public and private sectors, international organizations, small-scale and large companies, consulting firms, company of auditors. Graduates can  become teachers, lecturers or researchers as well.     

  • Track : Organization and Human Resource Management

Targeted skills in Licence degree course: Being acquainted with basic techniques in organization management and implementing them; identifying and comprehending basis of management; using management tools in solving concrete problems, developing and managing staff.

Targeted skills in Masters and Doctorate: Mastering managerial techniques and theories; diagnozing and analyzing human resource problems, securing organization and human resource management (recruitment, planning and developing career prospect, etc.).

Opportunities: acquired skills could enable graduates to work in public and private sectors, international organizations, small-scale and large companies, consulting firms, company of human resource management. Graduates can become teachers, lecturers or researchers as well

v Track : Marketing and Strategy (MKST)

Targeted skills in Bachelor degree course: Being acquainted with and understanding basis of management, using management tools in solving concrete problems; help in analyzing the environment; in defining setting up marketing strategies.

Targeted skills in Masters and Doctorate: Mastering managerial techniques and theories; diagnozing and analyzing organizational problems in decision-making; formulating strategies and marketing plans in a given environment.

Opportunities: Acquired skills could enable graduates to work in public and private sectors, consulting firms, in communication and advertizing companies. Graduates can become teachers, university lecturers or researchers as well.
